Metroid Prime Remastered: Magmoor Caverns Walkthrough (2024)

Right then, now that we've got the Varia Suit, we can continue our Metroid Prime Remastered walkthrough and head down into Magmoor Caverns.

This is a beautiful, yet deadly biome filled with flaming hot lava, fire-spitting beasties, and floating bombs of poisonous gas. Be careful.

Metroid Prime Remastered: Walkthrough - Magmoor Caverns

When you step out of the elevator, jump straight down to the lower level. Make your way around the corridor and blast the door to your left with a missile. Bingo, a Save Station! Save your progress here. Now, leave the room and continue to your left.

Scan Entry - Grizby

Deal with the Shriek Bats that drop from the ceiling. On an island in front of you, you'll spot a Grizby waddling around. Scan it. These things pose little threat, but you can get rid of them with a quick missile shot.

Hop on over and move through the door ahead. You'll see two more islands ahead, each of which contains a Grizby and a flamethrower on the wall. They also sink into the lava when you step on them. Get rid of the Grizbys and hop over the islands as quickly as possible when the flamethrower stops.

Scan Entry - Burrower

After you reach the other side of the island, a Burrower will leap out of the ground and fire at you. Scan this thing and get rid of it.

Move through into the next room, the Lava Lake.

Scan Entry - Magmoor

A cutscene will play to introduce Magmoor Caverns. Afterward, you'll see a Magmoor emerge from the lava. Scan it! These things spit out fire and can deal heaps of damage if you get too close. Keep your distance, lock onto its head, and keep firing until you quite literally blow its head off.

Scan Entry - Puffer

You'll see a bunch of floating mines dotted around the Lava Lake - shooting these will emit poisonous gas, so keep your distance and get rid of them with one, quick shot each (a few more if you're playing on Hard). Oh, and scan one of them, too.

Hope over the platforms and bomb the vulnerable part of the wall at the end. Roll through and then hop across some more platforms. Now head through the door and into the Pit Tunnel.

Scan Entry - Triclops

Before heading into the tunnel via your Morph Ball, scan one of the Triclops waddling around. These things are basically designed to gobble up your Morph Ball and spit it out back at the entrance if you get too close, so keep your distance.

Move through into the Triclops Pit. Here, you'll see floating platforms ahead of you. Before jumping onto this, drop down below. Spin around and you'll see a passage leading to a Morph Ball tunnel. Roll through here and continue along the path, avoiding Triclops as you go. Eventually, you'll come to a door. Head through.

Missile Expansion 7 - Storage Cavern

The door will lead you to a Storage Cavern. Move around the grating and you'll find a missile expansion waiting for you.

When you've grabbed it, head back to the Triclops Pit and jump across the floating platforms you saw earlier. Head into the Monitor Tunnel and move through into the Monitor Station.

You'll immediately see some Auto Turrets when you enter the Monitor Station. Get rid of them with your missiles (you can also scan one if you happened to miss this during the prologue). Move around to the back of the station and head up the platforms. Jump across the gap onto the station itself, head across the short bridge, and through the door.

Energy Tank 4 - Transport Tunnel A

In this Morph Ball section, there is an Energy Tank at the top, but you'll need to pull off three 'double jumps' with the Morph Ball to reach it. As a reminder, this is accomplished by jumping, laying down a bomb at the top of your jump, then jumping again just as it explodes, effectively giving you an extra jump.

Do this three times in a row to reach the Energy Tank. It's wise to save your game shortly before attempting this, as falling into the lava below can be lethal.

When you're done, you can now head through to the next room and use the elevator up to Phendrana Drifts.
